"Promote Well-rounded, Independent & Creative Learners." Yuen Yee is a music teacher, performer and accompanist in the Chicago area. Originally grew up in Hong Kong, Yuen Yee received her Bachelor's degree in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University studying clarinet performance with John Schertle, Assistant principal clarinet of Hong Kong Philharmonic; and piano performance with concert pianist Genevieve Wong, Graduate of The Juilliard School. In 2010, Yuen Yee moved to Chicago to further her musical studies. She recently earned a Master's degree in Music Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where she studied clarinet performance with Carol Lee Smith, Former clarinet faculty at Roosevelt University; and chamber music under the coaching of Li-Kuo Chang, Assistant Principal Viola of Chicago Symphony Orchestra; John Bruce Yeh, Assistant Principal Clarinet of Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and Eugenia Moliner, Flute faculty at Roosevelt University. Yuen Yee has been an active performer since she was 12 when she first met the clarinet and joined her school's wind band. She also served as a piano accompanist at her school to perform in music festivals and exams. She had her first public solo appearance in 2003 where she played Over the Rainbow as a soloist with the school band at a music festival. Two years later, Yuen Yee was chosen as one of the two students to be interviewed by the press release at a Music therapy workshop sharing her musical experience. In 2006, she was invited to perform in a piano masterclass with Professor Edward Ho, Former Head of School of Music at Kingston University, UK. As a member of many outstanding music ensembles in Hong Kong, Yuen Yee performed in many different countries including Austria, Australia, Taiwan and Macau. After graduated from Roosevelt University, Yuen Yee performed in the musical The Sound of Music with Chamber Opera Chicago, a contemporary music Rhapsody in Uptown at Open House Chicago organized by Access Contemporary Music, and a concert with the well-known Chicago Clarinet Ensemble with many professional clarinetists. Yuen Yee is also a clarinetist of the community music group Chicago Concert Winds. Besides performing, Yuen Yee is passionate in music education. She has been a music teacher since 2007 and has taught hundreds of students from age 5 to adult in both private and group settings. She was invited to teach at many public schools and music studios in Hong Kong and Chicago. Previously, Yuen Yee was teaching at Music House, Inc. in Chicago, IL; My Music Lessons in Oak Park, IL; and Horse-Drawn Productions, Inc. in Berwyn, IL.
